Board Member
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Utah County actively recruits board members interested in making a difference. To submit a recommendation for the Boys & Girls Club board of directors fill out the following application. You may fill out the application for yourself or in recommendation of someone.
JOB DESCRIPTION FOR INDIVIDUAL BOARD MEMBERS
1. Attend monthly Boys and Girls Club meeting unless excused.
2. Accepts an assignment by the President to serve on a standing committee or to support an activity.
3. Actively participate in the Annual Campaign and at least one Special Event fund raiser.
4. Contribute by sharing expertise with the Board to help guide the direction of the organization.
5. Serve as Trustee responsible for all Club actions and ensure public accountability.
6. Help develop policies to guide and direct club actions.
7. Exercise fiduciary oversight and assist in raising and contributing funds for the Club.
8. Perform all other duties that may be necessary to carry out the purposes of the organization.
PROFILE OF AN EFFECTIVE BOARD MEMBER
1. is knowledgeable about the social concerns of the community;
2. desires to give the time for effective activity of the organization;
3. has the resources (personal and /or corporate) to apply to the needs of the Club;
4. has influence with other to attract support for the Club;
5. is a perceptive and cooperative person in the area of human relations;
6. shows enthusiasm in support of projects;
7. is a willing participant in community affairs;
8. treats staff as a partner, while maintaining overall supervision and control;
9. welcomes information and advice, respects the right of other members and staff,
and endeavors to keep disagreements and controversies impersonal.
