The 458 Club PDF Print E-mail
The 458 Club is the annual giving campaign for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Utah County. With a donation of $458 you can sponsor one Boys & Girls Club youth for an entire year!  That’s only $39 per month or $10 per week. When you invest in the Boys & Girls Clubs of Utah County through the 458 Club campaign, you are making a commitment to support youth in our community. We, in turn, are making a commitment to be there for more than 2,400 youth currently participating in our programs and activities.  Make a difference in the life of a young person and join the 458 Club today.

For only $39 per month, you can become a sponsor for one Club member and help us provide that child with a positive place to grow. Each successive $458 investment allows us to reach out to another child. A gift to the Boys & Girls Club at any level is greatly appreciated and will collectively power the potential in more children.

Your financial help will enable us to keep our programs available for these children. We know there are many good causes, but the children of our community must be considered a priority.

Parent StoryWhen my six-year-old son, Aiden, and I came to Provo over a year ago, I was distraught over the lack of child care options in the area.  I searched the city up and down for a place for my son to go after school, but with little luck.  I couldn’t afford an expensive child care center, and I didn’t know enough people in the area to find someone I trusted who was willing to watch him.  I felt desperate – I couldn’t possibly take time away from my studies and work to care for him in the afternoons.  If I did, our future would surely be compromised.

The week before school started, I registered Aiden for school.  I felt somewhat sick with stress.  I inquired about after school programs, but as I found was common in the area, the school had no after school program. They expected a brief program to start sometime into the school year, but it was uncertain and completely dependent on BYU students. I felt trapped, and I knew Aiden could feel my tension.

After asking around a little more, someone directed me to the Boys & Girls Club. Boys & Girls Club?  I wasn’t aware Provo had one.  To be honest, I didn’t even know what the Club did. I went to the club and was overwhelmed with positive emotions when I found out that my son could go there after school.

Not only that, but they would pick him up after school and even feed him a snack.  I wasn’t going to have to take out a loan to pay for child care.  Aiden would be with children his own age and who he goes to school with. He would be safe and would have people reading to him one on one and helping him with his homework. Aiden would have an opportunity to interact with people who strongly identified with the mission of the Club, and who spent time with him because they loved it.  My son would have a place to call his own, somewhere that he felt he belonged to.

Aiden goes to the Boys & Girls Club every day after school and he feels that it is his world. He’s developed a sense of confidence that wasn’t there before. He looks forward to going to the Club (and gets upset if I pick him up early!)

Now I can focus on other important things in our lives, like workings, going to school, and taking care of my little family. As a single parent, life can be pretty stressful. With the help of the Boys & girls Club, I am not alone. And most importantly, I have a partner to help my son succeed. Thank you Boys & Girls Club!
